PARKING PINBALL
The set up: It's a crowded street, with only one spot available, and when someone tries to squeeze into the space, they end up tapping the surrounding cars; the cars light up, and the scaffolding above the space lights up and a score display rolls just like a pinball machine.
Our client had already successfuly performed this stunt in Paris, and we needed to figure out how - and if - it could be done in San Fransisco. The how was easy enough: How it would look, how it would be engineered, how much permitting and finnesse it would take. The real question came down to, do people tap cars in California as much as they do in Paris?
Because it was technically a structure on a street, the permit office needed detailed plans to consider.
Originally this stunt was to take place in the Mission District, so themed Pinball Artwork was developed.
When the neighborhood was changed to the Castro, the artwork was redone, and yes, that's Fidel Castro in front of the Hadron Collider interpreted in vintage pinball.
